The Indian Choral Ensemble, based in Chennai, brings together talented singers from across India to deliver captivating performances that blend sophisticated melodies with rich, interwoven harmonies. Their choral arrangements reflect the essence of Indian music, offering a mesmerizing fusion of tradition and innovation. This 40-voice ensemble masterfully showcases the majestic power of a large vocal group sound, performing original compositions by Kalyani Nair and Karthik Manickavasakam in multiple Indian languages and English. Under the expert guidance of the choir-director duo, their music is distinguished by its intricate 6-8 part arrangements, where each voice contributes to lush, multi-layered harmonies. A singer, composer, arranger, and conductor, Kalyani’s journey began at fifteen as a playback singer in the South Indian film industry, working with stalwarts like A.R. Rahman, Vidyasagar, Ramesh Vinayakam, Joshua Sridhar, Deva and many others.
Karthik Manickavasakam
(Founder, Choir Director & Conductor)
Karthik has a music diploma specialising in Western Contemporary Music Composition from Middlesex University/KM Music Conservatory, after which he continued to teach Music Composition for a period of 4 years at KM Music Conservatory, Chennai, during which he mentored over 50 music composition students, guiding them with numerous performance showcases, workshops and ensembles. He also has experience of working, conducting with many student chamber groups, choirs, bands and orchestras.
